2009 Bugatti Veyron 16.4

When future historians and collectors consider which motor car best defined the early 21st century, surely the Bugatti Veyron will be at the top of most experts’ lists. The absolute benchmark for outright performance in our era, and a technological tour de force, the Veyron is the ‘hypercar’ which finally toppled the McLaren F1 from its perch as the world’s fastest automobile- and look what has happened to F1 values in recent years. It’s only a matter of time, surely, before the Veyron becomes a collectors’ item and values inexorably start to climb. Given that production will end soon, that time may not be far away…

Of the strict 300 car production limit Bugatti has imposed upon the closed bodywork Veyron (excluding, therefore, the targa roof Grand Sport but including 47 Super Sports), this is one of the 253 Veyron 16.4s which are all now sold. For the record, the SS was priced at €1.65m plus tax (€1.95m for the ‘World Record’ edition) and the 16.4 at €1.2m plus tax. Chassis ‘234’ has been in the ownership of a respected European collector from new. It has remained in climate controlled storage with a Swiss Bugatti dealer, only having been driven twice by the owner which accounts for its ultra low mileage of just 680km (six hundred and eighty kilometres), some of which were of course pre-delivery. The striking paintwork, in metallic orange with metallic black side scallops, is ‘as new’ and compliments the unmarked cognac leather upholstery with sport comfort seats. The last service dates from May 2010 at 614km.

The car is Swiss registered and offers the opportunity to own an ‘as new’, European specification Veyron for a substantial saving on the original list price for a landmark sportscar which is no longer available. In years to come imagine the conversations amongst motoring enthusiasts about “The price I could have bought a Veyron for in 2012”, followed by “If only I'd known...” This is a car for the forward-thinking collector.
