Miura Tour 2006Miura's 40th
We’re delighted to announce that in May 2006 we’ll be hosting an exclusive private tour to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Lamborghini Miura. Our itinerary will take us from the Swiss Alps to the Cote d’Azur via gastronomic stops and some of the most beautiful scenery - and roads - in Europe. We welcome exceptional examples of the Lamborghini Miura and exceptionally nice people driving them! The event will be limited to 15 cars.
Thursday, 18th May
- Welcome breakfast at the Five Star Grand Hotel Bellevue in Gstaad (www.bellevue-gstaad.ch).
- Drive over the Grand St Bernard Pass (as featured in The Italian Job, weather permitting) to our first lunch stop in either the Aosta Valley or Megeve.
- Continue westwards to our overnight stop, the Relais & Chateaux Hotel Ombremont (www.hotel-ombremont.com) in Le Bouget-du-Lac, near Chambery.
- Cocktails and a gastronomic dinner will round off our first day, which totals between 242km and 371km driving, depending on the route taken.
Friday, 19th May
- Breakfast will be served, after which we drive south along some of Europe’s most scenic roads: the provisional route includes Sestriere, Pinerolo, Cuneo, and the superb Col de Tende pass.
- Lunch will be taken en route, either at a traditional hostelry serving local Italian food or, subject to logistics, we may have a catered picnic in the hills.
- After lunch we head for the coast, following the contours of the Mediterranean before arriving, after some 379km (including a 125km blast along the autoroute) in Casino Square in Monaco, which will be buzzing in anticipation of the Grand Prix Historique taking place that weekend.
- Our base in Monte Carlo will be one of Europe’s most famous hotels, the five star Hermitage (www.montecarloresort.com). We will enjoy dinner at one of the Principality’s most popular restaurants (I’m sorry, more fine food and wine).
Saturday, 20th May
Breakfast at the Hermitage and perhaps a tour of the Grand Prix Historique paddock before watching official practice with drinks, a buffet lunch and afternoon tea.
In the evening you may wish to attend the Bonhams and Coys auctions (catalogues will be provided). The rest of the evening is at your leisure.
Sunday, 21st May
Breakfast at the Hermitage, and if you wish to watch the Grand Prix Historique, we will have access to a terrace with drinks and a farewell lunch marking the end of the 40th Anniversary Miura Tour.
The entry fee also includes a road book for each team, escort by the event organizers (www.experience.ch), Friday and Saturday night parking and a single car transporter in case of mechanical mishap, plus logistical support. We will depend to an extent on the weather (there is sometimes snow at the top of the Grand St Bernard Pass, even in May) but given that this is intended as a relaxed, private event for like-minded individuals, we’re sure you will enjoy it.
Not included are your insurance, fuel, overnight stay at the Grand Hotel Bellevue in Gstaad (if you choose to arrive Wednesday night) and any hotel extras you might require (spa, room service etc). For those of you who wish to also spend Sunday night at the Hermitage before leaving, we have negotiated a special rate for you.
We hope owners will take the time out of their schedules to enjoy their Miura in the way it was intended, following in the steps of Ferruccio Lamborghini who wowed the crowds with the prototype Miura in Casino Square almost 40 years ago to the day…
