1964 Ferrari 250 Le Mans Berlinetta
Coachwork by Pininfarina
-
One of three most successful 250LM finishers at Le Mans
-
Veteran of major international events including Monza, Nürburgring and Paris 1,000Km races
-
Known history from delivery to Scuderia Filipinetti until today
-
Fully restored and fresh from over two decades in world class ownership
One of the most successful Ferrari 250LMs in period international competition, this example was one of several supplied new to Geneva-based Scuderia Filipinetti and placed 6th overall at the 1965 Le Mans 24 Hours: the third best Le Mans finish of any 250LM. It has a clear subsequent history and superb provenance, previous owners including Sir Anthony Bamford, Don Nelson and Martin Hilton in the UK (coincidentally all 250GTO owners as well). During Martin Hilton’s ownership the LM was enjoyed on the road including a trip as far as Sweden to attend a historic race meeting. He recalls: "People parking on the 6th floor of a multi-storey must have been surprised to see an LM and a GTO side by side!"
Restored on the US East Coast in the early 2000s and used only in testing since, this is a fine example of what many consider to be the prettiest Ferrari racing car ever built and the last model to win outright at its 24 Hour namesake.
We love 250LMs and are honoured to have overseen the acquisition of this ex-Le Mans example on behalf of an emerging collection of great sports and racing cars.
